Greer, South Carolina is the new home to this Marathon. Created with slow runners in mind and the thought that it might be fun to host an event that would be exclusive to them. This race is all about promoting the aspect of mental toughness that exists in our sport and celebrating the people who can persevere.
It is a race where $20 of every registration goes towards prize money for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, and the last 3 finishers are the winners.
We have opened a virtual option for those who still want to participate but cannot travel to the live event.
We would prefer that you attend packet pickup the day before the race, which will be available from 11am thru 6pm. However, you can collect your packet the morning of the race starting at 6:30 am until 7am. Race will start promptly at 7:30am.
The organizers of the 2Slow4Boston Marathon are diligently working to make this a pleasant experience amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and making sure this is a safe environment for all participants.
Over the last few days we have experience an influx of registrations to this race. And as part of keeping the event safe, we have established a cap of 45 participants. We understand if some of you may feel an uneasiness to travel. Therefore, we have opened a virtual option.
A few of the event rules have been adjusted for the virtual participants. You will be allowed to complete the event outdoors or indoors between Sept. 7th and 28th. Unfortunately, as a virtual participant, although your registration contributes to the prize purse, you will forfeit your qualification for it, running with the status of a “Bandit”. However, just like the race day event, we are awarding a trophy (and bragging rights) to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place virtual finishers (remember this is the last 3 places). Once all results are tallied and we have also figured virtual winners, we will be mailing all virtual participants their race medal, the swag bag with all the race goodies also given to the live participants, and the placement trophy, if you happen to be one of the 3 placing participants.
On race day, we will be setting up a single aid station with individually wrapped snacks (sandwiches, wraps, chips, trail mix, cookies, etc.), Tailwind, water, and a variety of canned sodas. Also, like last year, we will be ordering pizza to be served around lunch time. If you have any special dietary needs that we should know about, please feel free to respond to contact us to let us know and we will do our best to accommodate. In addition, you are welcomed to self-support yourself.
With about 30 days to go, we would like to receive confirmation whether you are attending the event or prefer to participate virtually. We have sent an email requesting your confirmation about participating in the event and will appreciate a response if you have not already done so.
In the meantime, we will keep you updated as we get closer to the event and an email with more details for Race Day will be sent out the week before.
