2Slow 4Boston Marathon & Half to be held in Greer
on April 16th, 2023 @ 7:30 am

Greer, SC: The Tenth installment of the 2Slow4Boston Marathon will be held near historic downtown Greer for the fifth year in a row. In addition to the marathon, a half marathon distance has been added. So far, participants from 14 states, Canada and Germany will be taking part in this event. There is a limit of 75 participants for the marathon, and 25 participants for the half-marathon.
This marathon was originally created and held in North Carolina with the idea to host an event that would be open to all levels of runners but would also appeal to the slower runner/walker community. Although it’s a way to honor middle and back of the packers that don’t receive as much recognition as faster runners, we encourage all levels to participate.
The race will consist of a 1.31-mile loop through our neighborhood. Participants for the marathon will complete 20 loops and 13 loops for the half marathon. While only the marathon offers cash prizes, the last three finishers of each event will receive the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards.
Race director Adamy Diaz says, “the race will remain open until the last participant crosses the finish line”. The marathon is open to anyone regardless of speed, but if a participant has never completed a marathon or has qualified or completed the Boston Marathon, they will run as a “Bandit”. What that means is, that although this would still count as an official marathon, the participant would not be eligible for award money.
This year we are excited to be part of Shawn Hazelrig’s return to “Boston” journey as she raises awareness about Scleroderma, an autoimmune connective tissue and rheumatic disease that causes inflammation in the skin and other areas of the body. She completed the Boston Marathon for her 40th birthday in 2013, and is returning to “Boston,” the 2Slow4Boston that is, to celebrate her 50th birthday and support her further the cause that helps others afflicted with this condition.
The marathon will begin at 701 West Poinsett St, in Greer next to the Clock restaurant. This is the Team Be @ Peace headquarters and home to Zenergy Hemp Shoppe and Angel Dolfyn Massage.
Organizer and race director, Adamy Diaz has completed 25+ marathons and ultras, and her husband Don has completed 80+. They are both back of the pack runners and are passionate about their desire to honor others like them.
Once again, Collective Socks has agreed to be the Title Sponsor to this year’s event. Other sponsors include The Clock Restaurant of Greer, Run In, Dynamic Dyes by Debbie, Zenergy Hemp Shoppe, Angel Dolfyn Massage, daWebGenius Digital Solutions and 3CatsWeb.
